Lynn (Bernstein) Berry, founder of Transparent Elections North Carolina, helped to improve trust in elections from 2017-2022. TENC's mission was to work with election officials to ensure that elections were transparent, robustly audited, and publicly verified. She educated and trained the public on how to legally and respectfully observe, which helped increase confidence in elections.
Her degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder in Aerospace Engineering and her experience integrating and testing complex subsystems on satellites taught her to think critically about processes, procedures, and accountability. Her ideas and advocacy led to improvements across the state and NC adopted her process to ensure that random audit selections were verifiably random. Although she is no longer observing or training observers, she continues to research audit methods and standards in order further the development of evidence based elections.
When she’s not researching auditing and elections, she loves spending time with her family, friends, and nature — hiking, kayaking, and foodscaping.
